Cambridge Kannada Balaga
was formed with the aim of bringing Kannadigas domiciled in Cambridge,
Cambridgeshire and nearby places together. We are a secular organisation with
membership open to people from all faiths and religions. We aim to promote
Indian arts and culture amongst our members. We are bound by the rules and
articles of a written constitution. Our motto is to bring together two
generations and two cultures".
Cambridge Kannada Balaga was informally formed in April 2014 and has been formalised in September 2014. It is a young and growing organisation with a potential of around 200 members. This is possible only through dedication and contribution of our members and Kannadigas living in and around East Anglia.
We had celebrated Ugadi 2014 with lot of cultural activities for kids and adults as one off programme. The enthusiasm shown by over 100 participants motivated us to formalise the group and continue with organising more gatherings and programmes.
Meetings are planned to be held twice a year. These provide an opportunity to meet each other with family and friends. The first event of the year is to mark Ugadi (Kannada New Year) and the second to celebrate Deepavali (the festival of light) to cherish and celebrate Karnataka's profound rich culture, traditions and language. Cambridge Kannada Balaga invites you, your family and friends to participate in its cultural and charitable activities.
